5/8" Type X provides a 1-hour fire rating in most assemblies. All sheet sizes are 48" wide. Longer lengths reduce butt joints — ask about 4×12 for 9' ceilings.

Always use alkaline-resistant mesh tape at cement board joints. Use corrosion-resistant screws or Durock screws — drywall screws will corrode in wet conditions.

Setting compounds are stronger than air-dry compounds — use for first coats and corner bead. Lightweight compounds are easier to sand for finish coats.
